Menlo Park, California - (Website Hosting Directory) - May 11, 2007 - Search Engine, Krugle, is partnering with SourceForge.net (of the OSTG, Inc. technology network, a wholly-owned subsidiary of VA Software Corporation), to enable code search on the SourceForge.net open source software repository. Krugle's search engine technology will be embedded into the SourceForge.net website.

The new search technology will allow developers direct contextual access to the underlying code of 145,000 open source projects. According to the two companies, the search-driven development will facilitate further adoption of commercial open source software by helping companies manage the proliferation of open source in the enterprise.

A study conducted by Evans Data Corporation showed that developers spend a quarter of their time trying to find code. Krugle's search functionality, will permit developers to not only search for projects in te existing SourceForge.net environment, but also for the code that those projects are built on. As reported by the companies, this added functionality allows developers to find code quicker and expose them to projects they may never have been aware of.

According to Ken Krugler, Founder and Chief Technology Officer of Krugle, ''The software industry is moving toward a search-driven development model. What we announced today is the equivalent of search on steroids: giving developers the power to search deep inside the world's largest repository of open source code.''

Mike Rudolph, Vice President and General Manager of SourceForge.net added, ''We're delighted to be working together with Krugle to bring this new capability to the open source community. Embedding code search directly into Sourceforge.net makes what is already the world's largest open source destination much stronger and opens new opportunities for developers to create the next great open source project.''

The two companies report that the integration of Krugle's search engine will expand the toolset SourceForge.net is able to offer its community of developers. It will also allow users to search for code directly within SourceForge.net, making it much easier to get to code within the context in which they are working.

Andrew Aitken, Founder and Managing Partner of the open source management consulting firm, Olliance Group added, ''Today's announcement is a significant step towards helping the open source movement accelerate its already rapid growth," said "It demonstrates the dramatic impact open source has on the way software is developed.''
