New York, New York - (The Hosting News) - May 30, 2007 -  The central operations hub for all of search engine, hakia, has been developed into a main data center in Newark, New Jersey. The data center's close proximity to New York is hoped to facilitate development and engineering, while housing several carriers to assure bandwidth availability.

Based on a QDEXing system, hakia's technology seeks to advance the indexing search interface legacy. According to the company, the QDEX system is highly distributed and significantly more scalable than indexing, a necessity to support the higher information density needed for meaning-based search. hakia is available for use in its BETA stage.

Cory Booker, Newark City Mayor remarked, ''Companies like hakia are finding that Newark makes economic and geographic sense as a data center. We are glad that hakia has made Newark its home.''

Dr. Riza Berkan, CEO of hakia added, ''Newark met our needs to have a facility that meets the most stringent technical issues. It gives us room to grow, and has power redundancy to alleviate down time issues. In addition, it is easily accessible from our NYC headquarters.''

hakia has been cited in business and technology press as a next generation search technology. Dr. Berkan added, ''hakia.com algorithms understand the meaning of text by sentence analysis. This eliminates the need for cookies as we do not need to track user behavior to improve our algorithm. In some instances, when a user wants a personalized interface, for example, a cookie can be an added convenience. However, it is a private matter, up to the user, not up to us as a search provider.''

Thus, search engine, hakia.com, has developed a mechanism that does not insert cookies or use tracking mechanisms on computers by default, to understand search meanings. In the future, new hakia.com features will ask users' explicit permission to insert cookies if there is a need for it.

Founder of hakia, Dr. Berkan is a nuclear scientist by training with a specialization in artificial intelligence and fuzzy logic. He is the author of several articles in this area, including the book Fuzzy Systems Design Principles published by IEEE in 1997. Between 1990 and 2000, Dr. Berkan worked as a subcontractor to the US Government and handled multiple Lockheed Martin Energy Systems and Westinghouse projects involving the Y-12 Plant, Savannah River Plant, and Los Alamos National Laboratory. Dr. Berkan holds a B.S. in Physics from Hacettepe University, Turkey and an M.S. and Ph.D. in Nuclear Engineering from the University of Tennessee with a specialization in Artificial Intelligence.

hakia, developed its first meaning-based search engine, utilizing a new infrastructure, designed to deliver the most relevant search results. Founded in 2004, the company is privately held and based in New York City.
