Mountain View, California - (The Hosting News) - September 11, 2007 - Former Google Director of Global Operations, Lloyd Taylor, has been appointed Vice President of online professional network, LinkedIn Corporation's Technical Operations division.
During his three year term at Google, Mr. Taylor was responsible for scaling the Google.com infrastructure, including data centers and server operations.
Mr. Taylor's efforts helped Google scale its infrastructure by more than 500%, while growing staff responsible for machine maintenance by only 80 percent, which also served to support Google's post-IPO growth.
Previously, Mr. Taylor was Vice President, Technology and Operations at Keynote Systems, where he grew the measurement infrastructure from 60 measurement agents in 10 domestic locations to well over 3,000 agents worldwide. Before Keynote, Mr. Taylor was the founding technical executive for Digex Web Hosting. His datacenter designs at Digex are still featured as the premier hosting locations of Digex's current owner, Verizon. Mr. Taylor started his career at Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory, where he participated in the creation of ARPANet, designed flight computer systems for several Space Shuttle missions, worked on cryptographic systems for U.S. Department of Defense applications, and implemented one of the first Internet-based distance learning systems.
