Portsmouth, New Hampshire - (Cheap Web Hosting Directory) - October 4, 2007 - Port City Web, has achieved Microsoft ISV status for the development of software that will automate the delivery of product content from the ProductCart shopping cart to Google Base.
Erik Crago, President and CEO of Port City Web noted, ''Acceptance into the Microsoft ISV program exemplifies how Port City Web is committed to being a strong stand-out in the crowded field of website and eCommerce development and marketing. Most marketing firms, ad agencies, web development or design companies claim to do eCommerce work. At Port City Web, eCommerce is the core of our business, accounting for approximately $1 million of our annual revenue. The software that we are developing emphasizes our significant experience and strength in eCommerce compared to our regional competition.''
At the core of the software, which remains unnamed as of press time, is the ProductCart shopping cart database. While ProductCart already has a way to manually create files for upload to Google Base, that can be a labor-intensive process when an eCommerce store has tens of thousands of products. The product under development by Port City Web creates the file for Google Base, then uploads it automatically, all on a set schedule. Currently, Port City Web has 4 customer eCommerce websites participating in the beta program, and all have experienced an increase in online sales during the participation period -- with some seeing sales increase by as much as 200%. Port City Web is looking to add another 6 beta customers by the end of 2007. To be considered for participation in the beta program, the eCommerce website must be hosted with Port City Web; it must have a minimum of 5,000 products for sale online; it must be using a recent version of ProductCart; and Port City Web management must have access to the shopping cart administration to monitor the sales increases and product levels.
Mr. Crago continued, ''In my opinion, Google Base is the best way to get your content indexed by Google. While some tools exist to get content up to Google Base, many people are too busy to deal with a manual process. Our software will automate the entire process, which will eliminate the manual time spent and increase the regularity of updates to Google Base. By getting fresh content up to Google on a regular schedule, we can get more product pages and more products listed faster on Google, all while reducing the manual time now spent on such tasks.'' Port City Web anticipates beta testing to continue for another 6 months while the product is completed. A launch date for the final product has not been set, but it is anticipated to be released in the first half of 2008.
